Matt Todman

Matt Todman

Matt Todman makes no bones about his Essex boy status. After being politely asked to leave school at the age of 16, Matt had the choice to either train to become a chef or try to gain some further education. The education battle was won and after he learnt how to spell Physiotherapy, gained a place at the Middlesex hospital, London qualifying in 1992. The next 2 years in the NHS were spent making all his patients worse, and the simple discovery that if you make them worse, then do the opposite of what was taught and make them better. An 18-month period overseas, sitting on beaches whetted his appetite to officially learn more and try to gain an MSc at UCL. Funnily enough he was initially rejected for being too flippant in the interview. It was then almost impossible not to be accepted! Finally completing his MSc in 1998 and after lots of undercover work the suggestion that Matt might be really good at this physio lark was now becoming a reality. Working with Mark and teaching the McConnell concept to the UK developed, honed and focussed Matt`s skills, talent and good looks. He is now often referred to by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy to give his expert opinion on TV, radio and to the newspapers. He continues to guest lecture at different MSc courses around the UK, because he truly believes that poor physio is not on. Matt recognises, and is recognised by his cohorts for, the importance of a simple approach to often-complex musculoskeletal problems. He does so without losing any of his clinical excellence to get the very best result for every patient and from every physiotherapist in his team. You`ll find him at the weekend either pegging it along the Thames path; trying to find the next Banksy or waxing his Ford Escort, who says you can`t take the boy out of Essex!

Nina was born in Georgia, and moved to the UK when she was 3 years old. She loves travelling and would love to eventually move to America – anywhere will do! Having developed a love for creative writing and styling from a young age she went on to do a Fashion Journalism course at London College Of Fashion for a year. Following on from that she decided to move away for university but got as far as Surrey, and only managed to stick that out for a year before starting to miss the madness of central London ... and home cooked meals. Currently Nina is doing a degree at the University of East London in Trend Forecasting and Fashion Marketing which she hopes will lead into a styling or P.R. role. She'd love to have my own TV show similar to ‘The Hills’ but with less plastic surgery, and even auditioned for Big Brother two years ago in a bid to become famous - which clearly failed. For the last 6 years Nina has been working in retail but has finally had enough and is lucky enough to joined the admin team here at Six Physio. Now she can save up for more travelling adventures... and maybe a Mulberry bag or two. One of the Six things you didn’t know about me: I am fluent in Russian, which comes in handy at times when eavesdropping on strangers chatting.

After realising that she couldn't be further from her calling in life, she spent some time trotting around several continents before returning to England and embarking upon a Physiotherapy degree. She qualified at the University of East London in 2005. On graduation she worked at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust gaining a wide range of experience in several clinical specialties including acute sporting injuries and chronic musculo- skeletal conditions, orthopedic surgery rehabilitation and women's health. She is also APPI Pilates trained. Vicky has a passion for the world and the people in it which means she loves to travel, talk and meet as many people as possible, and has an insatiable (and sometimes frustrating) need for variety and to experience as many things in life as possible! These traits led her to take a short career break and spend some time working with a youth and education charity- which involved period of time in a remote tribal village in Southern India working with 20 young people from Liverpool. Shortly after returning to England, she was subjected to a sudden and unexpected bout of illness which gave her first hand experience of being a patient, the fears and anxieties that come with illness and injury and what it is like to not be able to go about your life as usual and do the things you love. Pilates and yoga have both played a huge role in her own rehabilitation leading her to seek out the Physiotherapy Pilates role at SIX. Jonathan Grayson

After realising my dream of becoming a premiership footballer had been shattered at 16, I managed to find my brain after 12 years in education. This ultimately led me to attend and graduate from the University of Birmingham in 2002 with a BSc in Physiotherapy. Having enjoyed the social side of university so much I decided to stay and work in the NHS for 2 years, working in a variety of fields from thoracic surgery to paedeatrics. I then returned to my northern roots in the kingdom of Sheffield where I began working in the private sector, at clinics all over South Yorkshire and the Peak District. Being a typical Physio I developed the travelling bug after another 2 years and therefore spent the following 6 months skydiving, bungee jumping, scuba-diving and drinking my way around the world, visiting Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the USA. Having returned to the UK, and realising just how small Sheffield was, I made the journey south of the border to London where I worked in a private sports injury clinic for the past 3 years, treating a diversity of clients including performers from a number of west end shows. Inbetween I recently spent 6 months away in France working for The British Chartered Physiotherapy Clinics in 2009, treating acute sports injuries, but more importantly becoming distinctly average on a snowboard! Now one of the manual Physiotherapist's at Leadenhall street, my aspiration is still to become any good on a snowboard, although the dream of premiership football is still there! One of the six facts you didn't know about me: My first pint of beer was at a house party with Vinny Jones!

Katie left Brisbane, Australia back in 2003 for a one year stint living in the UK but after many years, she is still enjoying London. So no convict jokes here please! As Katie loves travelling and photography, London is the best place for her to be based, as Europe is just a hop skip and a jump away. So as you can assume over the period of 5 years she has seen more of the world than some pilots! One of the SIX things you didn`t know about Katie is that she has broken two Guinness World Records!

As the company has developed so has her role, initially manning the desk at the Parsons Green clinic, today she oversees the management of the administration across the practices and is project manager for the opening of new clinics. One of the highlights of the past few years working for SIX, was the Christmas party where everyone was taken to Brussels for the day for beer and mussels! Originally a photographer by training, Kellie travelled overland to the UK back in 2000 carrying over 400 rolls of film in a duffel bag, being unsure of the film quality she`d find in Africa!
