Left knee

Nov 07, 2011

  • Simon asked The Guru for the following Physiotherapy Advice:

Completed 10 mile run yesterday resulting in v sore left knee. Maximum pain when bending knee front left hand side - collateral ligament damage?? prefer it if muscular. Slightly better after nights sleep - like to understand the issue so can act accordingly - trying to rest today.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Simon

    Great mileage!

Go for the simple things first like an ITB friction syndrome.

LCLs generally hurt after trauma - as in you'd know if you had tweaked it, or you've had ongoing knee probs.

Rest is the right thing to do at the mo. Maybe ice it. Stairs may be tricky. The bigger question is why? Is it the mileage (too much, too sudden), shoes, terrain or something to do with your hips or back...

Any clues, let me know and I'll get back to you.
