Kevin Sinfield ruled out for Leeds Rhinos with leg injury

  • Wednesday, 03 March 2010 17:09
Leeds Rhinos skipper Kevin Sinfield has been ruled out of Friday's Super League match against Harlequins with a leg injury. Kevin Sinfield ruled out for Leeds Rhinos with leg injury

The goal-kicking loose forward was forced to limp off in the first half of Sunday's World Club Challenge defeat by Melbourne and now requires sports injury treatment.

Meirion Jones, the Rhinos' head of physiotherapy, said: "Kevin Sinfield had a severe impact to the front of the thigh.

"We will monitor his progress but he will not be available this week and will require further assessment after the weekend ahead of our next game."

As the Press Association noted, Sinfield has missed only four matches for the club in the last three seasons, giving the lie to the notion that all rugby players are injury prone to the physical nature of the sport.

However, Sinfield's latest sports injury suggests the player must have incurred a particularly awkward tackle to force him to the sidelines.

Writing for the Daily Record this week, Scotland lock Ally Kellock said: "Yes, players are getting bigger but if you change the game too much you risk damaging it and I don't believe any of us want that."
