Jacqueline has on-going pins and needles which the Guru says is neurological

November 20, 2014

Hello, I had a massage 9 days ago and she really worked on my hand and lower back – intense.

Then by Saturday night I could hardly use my hand and it became progressively numb. It then started travelling down my right side to my toes.

I’ve been to see the doctors and they say it’s not neurological just trapped nerves. I’ve seen the osteopath twice and am icing and using ibuprofen. Should I be using heat?

As a last minute resort I’ve made an appointment to have a steroid injection on Tuesday. I don’t know what to do from here…

The pins and needles are getting worse and I don’t know how that is even possible? It had been 6 days now.

Thank you!

Hi Jacqueline

Cripes – you didn’t have a steroid shot did you?

Your symptoms sound neurological – not sure what your Doc was thinking. Trapped nerves make it neurological! The whys are important though.

I’d be surprised if the massage is the only direct cause but more probable is that it’s just an accelerator of symptoms. You were probably heading in a certain direction and this has just plopped you over the edge.

Before somebody sticks a needle anywhere near you I think you need to have failed at decent physio/osteo/chiro etc. Exhaust all non invasive therapies (including drugs) before anything else…oh and no stretching!

What’s occurring now?
