Elbow woes

January 12, 2014

I have a lingering sharp pain in my brachialis muscle on my right arm at the point it joins at my elbow. The muscle is only slightly larger or more swollen on my right arm than me left arm too. I have tried ibuprofen, volterol , compression, ice and resting it for as long as possible but when I do some thing strenuous again it starts back up again. It has been going on for months.

Hi Will

Fairly unusual to be BR rather than Biceps, and not a tennis elbow – but if you’ve done all the right self helps things and the muscle is (and can’t see why it wouldn’t be) attached to the right bit of your arm, then I expect you’ve got a tendonosis type problem.

This may involve more invasive intervention….before you go anywhere near the sharp end of a needle do tie up the diagnosis and fail with lots of eccentric loading exercises.

Hope this helps
