Dinaay wonders if he has snapping hip syndrome

February 7, 2017

I train Taekwondo 5x a week and have had a sharp discomfort in the inner part of my hip (groin area), when outstretched for about 2 months now.

Getting the joint to pop usually relieves the comfort temporarily but then it comes back. Is this snapping hip syndrome? What would help?

Hi Dinaay

Could well be – but you can’t really do much with a diagnosis unless you know what’s caused it in the first place.

Stretching, very rarely helps and often hinders, in the long term.

You need to get more control around your pelvis and hip – and that needs control, measured movement – not necessarily doing things like Taekwondo 5x a week…..

I’m sure that’s not what you want to hear, but I’d gear down your training for good few weeks, before trying to train through it….
