Hip flexor pain from football

Jun 25th, 2019

Hi there, I’m currently struggling to play football due to an injury I suffered 3 months ago.

Initially it was in the groin area so I was out for approx 1 month. I stopped playing and the pain went away; I then attempted to play again and felt something pop after 30mins of playing. The pain is occurring where the top of my right high meets my leg and I can feel some pain relief when I do foam rolling in this region.

I go gym 3x a week and continue to lift but I need some advice on how to recover from this. The pain has subsided over the past 2 months since the last game I haven’t played however I can still feel it and I feel I won’t be right running or kicking a ball.

It also hurts when I do weighted lunges on the right leg, he left Is fine.

Note: not seen the doctors yet as appointments are taking way too long to schedule!

Can you recommend anything?

Hi David

Things going “pop” are tricky, but there are still lots of things you can and should do BUT you do need to let someone have a look at your hip/groin.

I can’t see why you wouldn’t pay and go and see a decent Sports Physio who can give you a decent heads up rather a GP who may not be a specialist in sports injuries.

No brainer.
