Hamstrings

I have pain in my left hamstring just at very top attachment into the pelvis bone.when i stretch before i feel stretching into the belly of the hamstring i feel pain in there.It persist for the last eight month.How can Ihelp myself?

Hi Andrzej

…..it really all depends on where and when the pain comes on will dictate what you need to do.

If the pain is right up in your bottom (deep in under your butt cheek) and made worse on stretching AND it’s been around for 8 months then it may well be an issue with your ischial bursa or the boney attachment point…….or even your sciatic nerve.

All of these things can influence each other ie where you feel it may not be the structure causing it.

If you can see anyone to firm up your diagnosis (which may need a scan and possibly a jab to speed you along) then I’d totally stop stretching for 1 month and avoid all sports for the same time period.

After this slowly restart running without stretching. If it breaks down, you know what you’ll need to do!
