Ailish Toomey

Ailish Toomey

Ailish graduated from University College Dublin in 2006 with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy and has spent her time since graduating between Ireland, England and Australia. She competed her junior rotations in the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick, Ireland, and it was here that she developed an interest in rehabilitation and pilates. Ailish then moved over to London in 2008 to work with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute where she was fully trained in mat and equipment pilates and then taught on some of their training courses.

After a year here, Ailish decided to blast the locum circuit in London before heading off to Australia. Here she gained further experience in Msk, pilates and women’s health working in private clinics in both Melbourne and Sydney. Having gone for “only a year”, she finally decided that after 2 and a half years, it was time to travel again and make the move back this way to be closer to home.

When not at work Ailish spends a lot of time exercising, mostly training for triathlons or pracitising her pilates. Ailish has always been a runner, enjoying anything from a quick 5km to marathon distance. She uses this experience in her treatment of runners as, despite finding it difficult on cold wintery evenings, she knows what needs to be done. She strives to ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of the importance of conditioning for injury prevention, which in turn will help you achieve your running goals.

One of SIX things you didn’t know about Ailish: she started playing golf from a young age and, although now only a fair weather golfer, plays off a handicap of 13.
