Richard Gonsalves

Richard Gonsalves

Richard spent the first 23 years of his life in a little city called Perth in Western Australia. He grew up as a young boy and thought to himself… this “Physio” thing could be kinda cool! He completed his studies and qualified as a Physiotherapist at Curtin University.  Throughout his time at university he gained insight into Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy, working with semiprofessional Football and Western Australian Football League teams.  It was here that his passion developed and he pursued a career in private Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy, working in one of the busiest and largest private Physiotherapy practices in Western Australia. He became one of their popular and successful Physios with his intellect, fun loving approach and the very important duty of being the “vibe master” – to maintain the social vibe!

As always, Richard was up for a challenge and completed an extensive and comprehensive Clinical Pilates course, integrating it into his everyday Physiotherapy practice. He conducted Pilates classes, hydrotherapy sessions, gym based rehabilitation and, of course, was always keen for a laugh. He gained a special interest into the management of lower back pain, hip pathology and knee injuries. Richard trained further in the practice of Dry Needling and Spinal pain. But all this extra stuff couldn’t dampen his musculoskeletal and sporting interest and in 2012 to 2014 seasons, Richard worked with an elite National Basketball League team, the Perth Wildcats.

Along the way, he travelled to many amazing countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia where he worked for 4 weeks in Kota Kinabalu. He was ready for a new life adventure and set his sights on London where he joined the Six Physio team. In his spare time, you will find Richard playing football, travelling, reading books and baking (yes he loves to make cupcakes). He enjoys all things entertainment such as musical theatre, socialising with friends, and some nights you may even see him bustin’ a move on the dance floor … or at least trying to. One of the SIX things you didn’t know about Richard is that he has been to sing karaoke with the same group of friends three times in his lifetime. All three times, he and four others wowed the audience with their choreographed rendition of “As Long As You Love Me” by the Backstreet Boys!
