Would a sports massage be beneficial?

November 2, 2017

I am currently working as a stadium tour guide at Chelsea FC on average 3-4 days a week, which I’ve been told works out at around 14,000 steps on a busy day! Lately, I have getting leg pains and ankle pains, legs feel very heavy, been told it could be circulation problems. I’m 57 so not young, but not ancient either!

Any advice, would a leg sports massage be beneficial?
Cheers

Hi Derek

You know what I think a massage after a long day at Stanford Bridge would be a good idea – I don’t think it’s the long term fix, but I think it’d give you some good relief.

Sports Massage information can be found here

I agree, I think the heaviness you describe is due to venous pooling from being on your feet all day – and which maybe worse if you’re a smoker.

Doing some sort of regular exercise 5 days a week for 40 minutes where you get warm will also help. Don’t just  in, gradually increase what you do after you’ve been given the OK by your GP.

Compression socks/stockings will also help with your symptoms, and you should again check with your Doc. You could also try some cheap sorbothane insole in your shoes too.

Either way, there’s plenty that can be done.
